ZOOL. Ver marin, plat, sans tube digestif qui, à marée basse, forme des colonies nombreuses sur certaines plages de la Manche et de l'Atlantique. Les convolutas, petits animaux du littoral (Duhamel d'apr. Lar. Lang. fr.).
Rem. Parfois attesté comme fém., cf. GUÉRIN 1892 et COUPIN, Animaux de nos pays, 1909, p. 437 : La Convoluta, qui est si petite qu'on la distingue à peine à l'œil nu.
